UK Oil and Gas Reserves and Resources as at end 2019

The purpose of this annual report is to provide an estimate of the UKCS’s remaining recoverable petroleum resources. The Authority estimates that there remains in the range 10 to 20 billion barrels or more of oil equivalent (boe), including discovered and undiscovered petroleum resources

Energy Pathfinder

Energy Pathfinder (previously known as Oil & Gas Pathfinder) provides real-time visibility of activity for new oil and gas field developments, decommissioning and projects to support the energy transition, for example, carbon capture and storage, on the UKCS.

Asset Stewardship Reviews

We will continue to undertake pro-active, structured and prioritised stewardship reviews with operators and licensees based on intelligence gathered, prioritising those with the greatest impact on economic recovery and support the drive to net zero carbon by 2050.

Charging regime and fees

The NSTA charges fees for a range of services to specific licence holders, including consents issued under petroleum licences, offshore methane gas and carbon dioxide storage licences and for pipeline works authorisations issued under Part III of the Petroleum Act 1998.
