The Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) has today (Thursday 30 April) published its first Inclusion Report, created to help support improved inclusion and diversity practices within the oil and gas industry.
The report acknowledges that the combined impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and low commodity prices is putting pressure on the industry and creating some very difficult trading conditions for businesses. The OGA is aware that, in the immediate term, protecting staff and businesses is the industry’s main priority, but as the report explains, inclusion can be one of the enabling behaviours that can support individuals and organisations in navigating the future, engaging staff, and fostering innovation, particularly as the industry works towards the UK’s net zero ambitions.
The Inclusion Report sets out the OGA’s approach to inclusion and diversity as an employer, including an overview of the initiatives in place so far and the future commitments of the organisation. The report also seeks to make clear the context of inclusion and diversity within the oil and gas industry, and to look at examples of positive activity that the industry has already undertaken.
Additionally, the report outlines the OGA’s future commitments and how companies in the sector can build upon the excellence that has already been achieved.
