The revised OGA Strategy which came into force in February 2021, places an obligation on relevant persons to take appropriate steps to assist the Secretary of State in meeting the net zero target by 2050, as part of the Central Obligation.
The OGA Plan published on 27 March 2024 sets out the NSTA’s requirements for how relevant persons can meet the Central Obligation and relevant Supporting Obligations, as set out in the OGA Strategy, for greenhouse gas emissions reductions from oil and gas production and power generation.
This includes the requirement for relevant persons to ‘Produce an Emissions Reduction Action Plan (‘ERAP’) for each asset. An explanatory note which provides further details can be downloaded here.
